Artist Statement
My work draws inspiration from the minimalist traditions of artists like Mark Rothko and Carmen Herrera, exploring how simple geometric forms and deliberate color choices can evoke profound emotional responses. I am fascinated by what happens when viewers encounter uncomplicated shapes, lines, and colors and how these elemental visual languages bypass intellectual processing and speak directly to feeling. Through this reduction, I invite viewers to sit with their own reactions and discover what emotions surface when stripped of narrative complexity.
At the heart of my practice lies an investigation into nostalgia and the intimate relationship between color and memory. I seek to tie together colors with recollections of specific places, times, and feelings, creating visual anchors that resonate with personal and collective experiences. However, I intentionally allow for imperfections within my compositions, not as mistakes, but as honest acknowledgments that we are all flawed beings whose memories of the past are inevitably imperfect as well. These subtle irregularities remind viewers that both we and our recollections exist in a state of beautiful incompleteness.
I graduated from USC in 2014 with a BA in Studio Art, though my journey with art began much earlier in childhood. Creating has always been my way of calming my mind and finding presence in the moment, a meditative practice that continues to shape my work today. Through each piece, I hope to create space for reflection, inviting others to pause, feel, and connect with their own memories and emotions through the quiet power of color and form.

When I'm not creating, I am working for the Palmetto Purpose Foundation, a non-profit organization I founded in 2025 to help bring free and low-cost events to the local community with a special focus on social connection and the arts. In addition to that, I am a board member of Literacy SC, I do volunteer work with another non-profit called Sistercare and am a member of the professional group, Columbia Opportunity Resource.
In my free time, I am enjoying life and/or travel with my partner and our 4 animals.
